CAnucks block 6

Vancouver goes a rocky 2-1-2, as Bishop continues to struggle despite a nice card.
Dallas  4    Vancouver  3   OT
Dallas raced off to a 3-1 lead at the midway point of the game.  Vancouver claws back, tying it in the middle of the 3rd period with Nick Leddy’s first goal of the season.  But in overtime, Krejci takes a penalty and Hoffman scores the game winner on Dallas’ second power play goal of the game.  This drops Vancouver to 0-5 in overtime this year.
Chicago  3    Vancouver  2    SO
Vancouver roars off to a 2-0 lead after the first period as Eakin scores two goals.  But after clawing back last game, this game Vancouver allows Chicago to claw back in the 3rd period, with goals by Petterson and Toews.  Toews goal was on the 4th power play the Hawks had.  Vancouver gives Chicago another power play later in the third, and two more power plays in overtime, and kills them all. (Chicago 1 for 7 on the PP, Vancouver 0 for 2). So all that good penalty killing gets them to the shootout where Chicago goes 3 for 6 and Vancouver 2 for 6, with Strome getting the winner and Rittich stopping LaBanc.  Vancouver, after being 5-1 in shootouts, drops to 5-3.
Winnipeg  1    Vancouver  4
Easy win, as Bishop, for once, plays well losing his shutout in the 3rd period when Carlson scores.  Meanwhile 11 different players get one point for Vancouver in a balanced scoring attack.
New Jersey  2    Vancouver  3    OT
The game is tied 2-2 after regulation.  In overtime, for the third game in this block a penalty is called in overtime.  However, this time the penalty is not on Vancouver.  The Devil’s Hanifin is called for the penalty, and Boeser scores the GWG in his first game back after sitting out 11 home games with an injury.  Vancouver’s first OT win, and now 1-5 on the year.
Philadelphia  8    Vancouver  3
Nightmare game for Bishop and Vancouver, (or a dream game for the Flyers).  Bishop goes 0 for 2 on GRs and gives up 4 number goals, getting pulled in the second period.  He has now been pulled twice in 11 home games after giving up 6 goals.  Georgiev, in relief, gives up his first two goals of the year, but still has a .952 save %.  Only weakness for the Flyers is giving up two PPGs on three chances.  The Flyers go +35 on plus/minus, the Canucks -35.  Leddy is the only Canuck without a minus rating (0).  Johnson and Provorov both go +5 for the Flyers.  Balanced scoring for the Flyers as no player gets more than 2 points and only three players fail to get a point (all defensemen).
Matt, new CM to follow.

Stars continue to struggle at home

STARS CONTINUE STRUGGLE @ HOME

VANCOUVER-   Jaroslav Halak , who was acquired in the pre-season from the Winnipeg Jets, got his 1st Shutout in a Stars jersey, as he made 36 saves(7/7 gr’s) in a 4-0 score!  Cam Atkinson had two Goals while defenseman Erik Gustafsson had a Goal & an assist to lead the offense!
MINNESOTA-  Sergei Bobrovsky , after signing a long-term lucrative extension with the Stars , certainly did’nt earn his paycheck in this one, as the last-place Wild went 2/4 on the Power-Play & beat Bob rather handily by the score of 4-1!  Nathan MacKinnon got the GW Goal , while Goaltender Jimmy Howard played out of his $&#!@ , making 35 saves(9/9 gr’s) which prompted Coach Hunter to say post-game ” We made Jimmy look like an All-Star, hope someone checks those Goalie pads, they look a little large!”
TAMPA BAY-  Rookie Netminder Jordan Binnington, with Jimmy Howard Model Goalie Pads(see story above), stopped the first 44 shots before a late penalty to Darnell Nurse led to Brad Marchand scoring on the 45th shot, a Power-Play Goal with just two minutes left!  That tied the score at one apiece as Jaro Halak was steady in the Star’s net! In OT, Binnington made another game-saving stop on Brayden Point(rating)!   We go to the Shootout & all of a sudden, neither Goalie could stop a Beachball!  1st Star Jordan Binnington managed to stop Timo Meier after giving up 4 Goals in the Shootout, but Halak only made one save in 6 Shooters as veteran Anze Kopitar got the 2-1 Game-Deciding Goal!
NEW YORK I-  The 2nd place Islanders scored 3 Power-Play Goals for an early 4-1 lead, then Dallas got close at 4-3 when Mike Hoffman scored 6 minutes into period 3!  Anthony Mantha then started a barrage that would see the arena empty out early, as Mantha scored twice to complete his “Hat Trick” & the Islanders would score 5 straight for a 9-3 Shellacking!  Mantha added two Assists for a 5-Point night, all this & without their Offensive leader Patrice Bergeron who was left home with an upper-body Injury!  Coach Hunter was livid saying ” Viktor(Arvy) & Josh(Manson) were in the pressbox tonight, but I seen 18 other guys that could have joined them”
VEGAS-  A bad line change(Lose-Puck Breakaway) led to 4th liner J T Miller scoring(1-15)for the 1-0 lead!  The Knights 4th line got it back when 5th Overall Rookie pick Miro Heiskanen found the net!  Vegas generated more scoring chances than Dallas the rest of the way , but Bobrovsky kept the red-light off!  With under two minutes to play , the Stars Viktor Arvidsson(1-18)one-timed a Tyler Bertuzzi pass for the GW Goal in a 2-1 score!  Coach Hunter postgame ” After giving up 9 the game before, We showed more fight( well Wilson did, He had a bout with Parise) & that was the momentum changer”
