Toronto block 3

Happy Holidays everyone,

Sharks 4, Leafs 1- Toronto’s offensive ineptitude continued to start block 3, managing only 1 goal and only 4 GR chances despite 7 opportunities on the PP, while the Sharks scored 4 times on 13 GR chances. Hopes were raised early when Crosby scored on a 1st period PP, but things quickly fell apart in 1 3-goal 2nd period for the visiting Sharks.

Leafs 4, Knights 3 (SO)- Toronto led only 1-0 after 2 periods despite an edge in shots on net of 29-8. The Knights tied it quickly in the 3rd, the Leafs went ahead 2-1, and then the Knights scored 2 quick goals for their first lead. JVR tied it late and then scored the only goal of the shootout for the win.

Leafs 5, Canucks 1- A rare offensive outburst this season as the Leafs break open a 1-1 game with 4 goals over the final 25 minutes. Justin Williams scores 2x and Fredrik Andersen made 39 saves.

Bruins 4, Leafs 3- A strong 1st period gave Toronto a 2-0 lead, but Boston blew their doors off in the 2nd to take a 3-2 lead of their own. Brendan Gallagher tied it in the 3rd, but Evgeni Malkin put Boston ahead again for good a minute later.

Wild 4, Leafs 3- After battling back to tie it in the 3rd, the Leafs give up the GWG to Derick Brassard with 41 seconds left in the game.

A very frustrating ending to this home slate, part of a very frustrating season to date. May be time to blow things up in Toronto….
