Brooks Orpik said “I remember, We had Home Ice & was favored to Win, but that son of a gun Tim Thomas stole the series from us! No curse in game 1 as Brad Marchand’s PP Goal,his 2nd Score of the contest early in period 3 gave Dallas a 3-1 lead & Viktor Arvidsson added a late Goal for a 4-1 Final!
Game 2- Jamie Benn gave Boston a 3-2 lead three minutes into period 3 but with Blake Wheeler in the box, Ryan Kesler tied it on the Power-Play! With 6 minutes to go, Ondrej Palat beat Bobrovsky for a 4-3 lead! A minute later, Jordan Stall ties it back up at 4 apiece! We go to Overtime! Corey Perry Breakaway….he shoots wide! Jamie Benn,who scored in the 3rd period, hits his 1-7 for the 2nd time in this game & is denied by Bobrovsky! Stars get 2 PP chances & the Bruins one in Overtime but neither team can score! It’s looking like Double-OT but with 5 seconds to go, Leon Draisaitl draws Opponent defense 8 on Jay Beagle & he snaps home (rating)the Biggest Goal of his career,an OT Playoff Winner!

Game 5- A Standing-Room only crowd, with many season-ticket holders who remember the “Curse” were on edge in the opening period as the B’s came out firing, 14 shots with scoring chances a-plenty(5 ratings) ! “Bob” stood his ground till the 18:38 mark when Tyler Toffoli beat him with a one-timer & the Bruins held a 1-0 1st period lead! Early in period 2, J T Miller cashed in a rebound to tie game! The crowd went banana’s when Ryan Kesler skated by Gino Malkin & went top shelf on Budaj for a 2-1 lead! Stars took that 2-1 margin into the 3rd & went into their neutral-zone trap(1-1) while the B’s defense were pinching in(3-3). It was a nail-biting 3rd period as both teams had chances as both Bobrovsky & Budaj made save after save! With just 5 minutes to go, the B’s defenseman got caught napping as they coughed up a Breakaway, Jake Muzzin was all alone & he sent the crowd into a frenzy, beating Budaj glove-side for a 3-1 lead! As the clock ticked down & the “Fat Lady” warmed up, the Stars swarmed “Bob” (8/8 ratings)in a 3-1 Final!
First of all, Fun series with the B’s who had no luck here! Also, Congrats to the Wild with the upset Win over the Blues, as we all know anything can happen when the Strat-Gods interfere!
