Dallas block 7

VANCOUVER- Tuukka Rask, who came over from the Avs at the trade deadline for Power-Forward Kyle Palmieri, got yanked in his 1st road start in a Canuck jersey! Rask lasted just 17 minutes as Dallas brought their “A” game tonight with both “A”rvidsson & “A”tkinson getting two Goals apiece! When the dust settled after 40 minutes, the Stars had a 7-0 lead! Flashback to 4 seasons ago, the Stars Home Opener & the Canucks showed no mercy in a 10-2 thrashing! Coach Dale Hunter brought this up before the start of the 3rd period & said “No let up boys”, well the pep talk backfired as Vancouver would score 4 times to chase starter James Reimer! Stars would hang on in an 8-4 Final!

CHICAGO- Stars jump out to 2-0 lead in 1st, then a PPG by Ryan Kesler makes it 3-0 early in period two & the Dallas bench is all giddy with a 3-0 lead! Then Tyler Pitlick scores the 1st Hawk Goal, it’s 3-1. Late in the period, in a span of 34 seconds, Jeff Carter scores twice & the game is tied! The Giddy Stars bench is not so giddy now as we head to the 3rd tied! Both Goalies settled down & no one scores as we head to Overtime! Stars get a PP in OT but the Blackhawks fight it off! Again, no scoring as we go to the Shootout! This would be the Stars 12th Shootout of the season where they are just 1-4 on Home Ice & 4-2 on the road! It would not be a happy ending as no one scores thru 4 rounds , but in round 5 Jakub Voracek would roll an 8 & Braden Holtby would stop J. T. Miller(rating) to give Chicago a 4-3 Shootout Win!

LOS ANGELES- 5 Goals in the 1st period & Dallas led 3-2, that was still the score into the 3rd when Brad Marchand got his 2nd of the game for a 4-2 lead! Kings Captain Alexander Ovechkin then took a roughing minor & Erik Karlsson punched home a PPG! What was a close game into the 3rd turned into a blowout, as the Stars would add two more scores for a 7-2 Final! Cam Atkinson had a 5 point night on a Goal & 4 assists, while the “Little Ball of Hate” Brad Marchand had 2 Goals & 2 Assists! After the game, Ovie said “They have had our number this year & we havent been very good, but paybacks are Hell”

NEW YORK I- Both teams scored twice in the 1st, as Rookie Anthony Mantha & Patrice Bergeron scored for New York, while Jordan Stall & Former Islander Josh Bailey tallied for Dallas! Victor Arvidsson gave the Stars a 3-2 lead going to period three, but just a minute in, Conor Sheary tied it up! 30 seconds later, the Stars Nick Holden scored on a long slapshot to again retake the lead! That lead was short-lived as Sheary again would score just a minute after Holden’s bomb! It was Conor’s 4th point as he had assists on both Goals in the 1st period! With the score tied, no one would score again in regulation, as the fans would get their money’s worth seeing Dallas head to their 17th game that extended past regulation & into Overtime! No Scoring in OT, the Skills contest again at American Airlines Arena was on. With just a 1-5 record in the Shootout on Home Ice, could the Stars change their luck? Bergeron sends it wide, a loud cheer is heard! Marchand dekes Scores! A roar is heard! Mike Fisher – Roofs it Tied! Groans from the fans! Hoffman buries it, another loud roar! Kevin Hayes has to score…..sends it Wide! Stars Win, Stars Win!

SAN JOSE – A PPG by Ryan Kesler in the 1st period was the only score, as the Stars held the Sharks to just 5 shots! The neutral-zone trap(1-0,1-1) employed by Dallas in the 2nd period held the Sharks shot-less for the 1st 13 minutes, as San Jose managed just 4 Shots on Goal in the 2nd, but it was still only 1-0, as Scott Darling was holding the visitors in the contest! It was still 1-0 late in period three, when with just 2 & a half minutes to go , Logan Couture beat Cory Schneider 5-hole to tie the game! The crowd went silent! With a minute left, Phil Kessel got a breakaway pass, but sent the shot wide of the net! We are in Dallas, so what else, Overtime! It would be the 18th Overtime of the season for Dallas & the 11th time at home! Only 3 times at home has the game been settled in Overtime & this was not one of them! For the 3rd time this homestand, a Shootout will decide this game! Tyler Seguin- rating- Save by Schneider! Marchand- rating- save by Darling! Couture- misses! Brayden Point- wide! Kessel- rating-Save! Kesler-rating- Save! Antoine Vermette- misses Atkinson- rolls an 8 Stars win their 2nd straight Shootout to raise record to 3-5 at home in Shootouts! Stars Coach Dale Hunter ” We caught a break today as San Jose left Nikita Kucherov & Aleksander Barkov at home on IR!
