The Avalanche have struck a deal with the Winnipeg Jets.
Colorado sent star center Ryan Johansen and promising defensive prospect Markus Nutivaara to Winnipeg in exchange for veterans Ryan Getzlaf and Joe Pavelski.
“We are hoping these vets are key ingredients in helping us get to the playoffs for the first time under this ownership group”, coach Patrick Roy proclaimed at a press conference held earlier today.” Both Getzlaf and Pavelski bring a lot of playoff experience to this young team and are still playing at a very elite level, Our young players will learn the right way to play the game and the leadership these guys will bring to the room will be intangible. We have turned our slow start around and are hoping to continue to add to the momentum we have developed. With the addition of these two stars we hope to have provided the boost we need to get to the GHCL playoffs . We are fortunate to have a stock pile of youth that enabled this trade. This move really strengthens our top 2 forward units in the lineup as well as our penalty kill that is at a paltry 76%.”
