Coach Huet told his players before the game that regardless of the outcome, he was proud of his team and for the season that they put together. We never expected to get this far but great play from Dubnyk and Hiller helped the Islanders give their fans something to cheer about. When management decided to let Coach Ray Ferraro go and bring in the 2006-2007 Cup Champion Cristobal Huet, it was because we knew he was a leader and a Conn Smythe winner. An MVP that could teach and help develop Devan Dubnyk, Huet has done more than what was expected of him. Huet was asked by the media, “How did you feel coming into the season and what were the expectations?” Cristobal answered with his head held high, “We wanted to be better than last year, progress and not perfection. I knew we had a good team and we have veterans on this team that could teach the younger players. We struggled with injuries all season but those young guys stepped in and were very valuable, especially late in the season. Big shout out to Burakovsky, Jaskin, Glendening, Nikitin and Rielly who helped get us into the playoffs. Those guys and the veterans who have been with this team during our ups and downs gave us this opportunity to play in the conference finals”.

Game 6: We went with the same lineup that got us the win in Game 4 and facing elimination everyone in the building had sweaty palms. No score after period 1 and things were pretty even. Bergeron finally opened up the scoring halfway thru the game to give the Islanders a sigh of relief, we were on the board first. Nyquist found his way on a breakaway and ripped a shot over the glove side of Holtby for New York’s 2nd goal in 3 minutes. We quickly went into a defensive mind set to try and hang on. With about 4 minutes left in the game, Chicago woke up and Pacioretty finally got one by Dubnyk. Devan shook that goal off and stopped brilliant save after brilliant save as the Hawks sent a barrage of shots his way in the final few minutes. Pacioretty almost had another one on a breakaway, and then Stamkos was robbed. Time ran out and Dubnyk was named first star, stopping 30 shots and 8/9 on rating saves. 2-1 final, and the Isle live to see another game. Back to Chicago for Game 7! Good luck, what a fun playoffs it has been.
