Toronto 3, Winnipeg 2 (SO)- Karri Ramo was stellar and on his way to a shutout win but the Leafs came back in the 3rd, with Letang tying the game with 5 seconds left. The shootout was scoreless until Hartnell won it in round 6.

Toronto 7, Vancouver 1- Radim Vrbata gets a hat trick but still only gets the 2nd star of the game as Matt Greene scored twice, added 2 assists and finished a +5.

Toronto 4, Minnesota 2- Tie game late in the 3rd turned when Brendan Gallagher scored on a penalty shot and then Crosby scored right after on a breakaway.

Toronto 5, Philadelphia 1- Varlamov had 34 saves and Eric Fehr scored twice for Toronto.

Toronto 3, New Jersey 0- Leafs out shoot the Devils 42-20 and sweep their home block.

Block 5 Islanders games

<p:
New York goes 5-0 this block! Islanders have won their last 8/9 home games and feel the momentum.

VANALT3

VANALT5Vancouver – Plekanec scored a short handed goal to give us a 2-1 lead in the 2nd period and Grabner added one early in the 3rd. Edler scored minutes later to get back within one goal. Fisher made it 4-2 and we thought we would cruise to a victory. Dorsett (Dorsett!) scored a few minutes after Fisher and Dubnyk and the Isle were worried. We hung on and won 4-3 but Devan did not play well. Vancouver only had 18 shots the entire game and our goaltender was 3/6 on ratings. We thank Erik Cole for his 3 assists and 1st star of the game.

wildlogoMinnesota – No Scandella, Brodin, Cammalleri, Abdelakder and Okposo. The team hit the flu bug during this block and we missed a lot of guys. Luckily we have the next man up rule and this gives room for guys like Glendening, Jaskin, Burakovsky, Nikitin and Rielly. Erik Cole got us going early and Pirri tied it shortly after. Islanders would score 5 more goals to win 6-1 sending Quick to the showers early in the 3rd period. Cole has honors of first star again, recording a hat trick and taking the spot of top goal scorer on the Islanders. Hiller got the start and stopped 32 shots while stopping all 4 ratings.

phillyblacklogoPhilly – 3 goals by the Islanders, one in the first, one in the second and one in the third periods and Hiller was well on his way to a shut out. Cogliano finally ripped one by Hiller to end that chance and that was all she wrote. 3-1 win and Jonas was spectacular again stopping 5 out of 5 ratings this time and 31 saves. Have to give him another start!

newjerseyoldNew Jersey – Weise gave the Devils the lead and he could have had 3 goals this game, he was all over the place! We got lucky goals from some unsuspecting players, Rielly and Gionta scored for the Isle. Nino (name can’t fit on the game screen) Niederreiter tied the game with 7 minutes to go. Brodin tried to give the game away by taking a stupid penalty late but we survived and took it to OT. The game was not decided and we settled for the shootout. Schenn denied, Nyquist robbed, Kunitz shoots, glove save by Hiller. Fisher skates in, dekes, SCORES! Nino Nieds to score to extend it but his shot is blocked away and the Islanders take this one 3-2. Hiller let in one rating but still managed the win and a decent game.

kingsLos Angeles – I dread playing this high powered offensive team but here goes nothing. Coach sends out a full lineup minus Cole who needed a breather after working so hard the last few games. No score in the 1st period and I was happy with that. My buddy from Lake Forest, Illinois was in town and watching me play this game (huge Hawks fan) and of course Patty Kane opens up the scoring. Steen tied it less than a minute later and we were all square, feeling good about things. Ovechkin scored an even strength goal to give the Kings a lead and we thought that was going to be it. Captain Bergeron had other thoughts and beat Pavs unassisted with 6 minutes to play. Headed to overtime with the score at 2-2 again (Kane took a late penatly but we could not convert). Keith took an early penalty in overtime and the Islanders were getting excited… Well nothing happened and we found outselves in a shootout again. Dubnyk robbed the regulation scorers Kane and Ovie, Pavelec stopped Nyquist and Fisher. Callahan had his shot sent away and it was all up to Steen. Between the legs and top shelf!! Back to back 3-2 wins.

nyicaptainIslanders are looking for a JK or perfect passing defender with a 4 or 5 defense. I know it is asking a lot but we may be willing to offer a lot in return. Preferably a RD but I have some guys that can move to LD if need be. We are always looking for scoring help too as Coach Huet thinks he has a team to win it all. Thanks, and good luck!

The ranting & raving worked, as the Stars came out & scored 3 times in the 3rd to send game to Overtime! In OT, a penalty to Alexei Emelin gave the Stars a 4 on 3 PP , but Braden Holtby would not be beat! Another Shootout! John Tavares scores as 1st man up & Erik Karlsson scores as the 3rd shooter to send it to the 4th round! Both Holtby & Schneider would stop the next two shooters & it was the 6th round where 4th liner Curtis Glencross went 5-hole on Schneider ! Coach Hunter had Riley Sheahan, the Hero of the TB shootout left ,but he went with Mike Hoffman! Hoffman dekes, shoots, Kicked aside by Holtby, as the Hawks win 5-4 in the Shootout!

Loui Eriksson & Cody Eakin did the damage in period two! Vancouver made it 3-1 with just 3 minutes left as Veteran Henrik Sedin found the back of the net! Henrik’s Goal would be the GW, as Jarome Iginla would make things exciting, scoring with just a minute left! Stars pull Goalie but to no avail, as Vancouver skates away a Winner!
