avalancheCOLORADO- Andrew Hammond, who was just called up from the Texas Stars of the AHL, makes his 1st Career GHC Start & stops 43 shots(3/4 gr’s) in a 4-1 Win! The Avalanche, sporting an 11-3-1 Road record coming into American Airlines Arena, got snowballed in the 1st period , as the Stars scored 3 times, twice on the Power-Play for a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes! Avs Coach Patrick Roy berated his squad after the 1st period & they responded with 18 shots in both the 2nd & 3rd periods, but only Rookie Rickard Rakell could sneak one by the “Hamburglur” ! Stars Nick Backstrom had a Goal & Assist to lead the Offense!

sabresBUFFALO- Cal Clutterbuck scored his 1st Goal of the season, giving Buffalo a 2-1 lead with 5 minutes left in the 1st period, but(there’s always a but) the Star’s 4th line turned the game around! Riley Sheahan(his 1st of the season) & Brad Marchand scored within a minute of each other, then at 19:12 of the 1st, Jacob Silfverberg delivered the Knockout Punch! It was 4-2 & Sabre Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was sprawled on the ice in pain! Sabres Coach Phil Housley told his trainer’s “Go get him” & motioned for back-up Jonas Enroth to take over! In the 2nd period, both Riley Sheahan & Brad Marchand would each get their 2nd Goals of the game, as their line with RW J T Miller would end up +4 for the game! After a shaky start, Rookie Petr Mrazek held off the Sabres for a 6-2 decision! Enroth played well in relief, stopping 25 shots(6/7 gr’s) as both Marchand & Sheahan saw PP time trying to get the Hat Trick! Buffalo Wild Wings- Wingers Cal Clutterbuck & Cedric Paquette ,along with Center Tyler Bozak were a +1 for this contest, the only plus’s on the team!

sharks2SAN JOSE- Stars win their 5th in a row on home ice with a dazzling defensive effort in a 1-0 Shutout! Cory Schneider, at times yawning in the nets(1/1 gr), stopped 25 shots for his 2nd Shutout of the season & 2nd vs the Sharks! His other shutout came earlier in the season in San Jose! Only 2 penalties in the game, both to Dallas, but the PK was spotless! Veteran Pavel Datsyuk scored the only Goal in the game, late in period one, as Shark Goalie Cam Talbot was good enough to win(3/4 gr’s)& 27 saves,but got no run support!

PHILLYORIGINALLOGOPHILADELPHIA- Outstanding Goaltending in this game as the “Hamburglur” backstops Dallas to a 6th Straight Win on home ice, stopping 34 shots(8/9 gr’s) in a 3-1 Win over the Flyers! Brad Marchand & Pavel Datsyuk gave the Stars a 2-0 lead after one period , as Flyer netminder Fredrick Anderson, who won last time in Dallas was also very good in this game(5/6 gr’s) & 1-12 by Iginla & 1-12 by Pouliot! Halfway thru the 3rd period, Pavel Datsyuk struck (1-5+)on the Power-Play for a -0 lead! Defenseman Seth Jones broke Hammond’s shutout bid with just 4 minutes to play, as he bounced in a 37 footer from the blueline! Coach Hunter was “Ecstatic” with the defensive play of his 1st line against the Neal-Backes-Parise trio of the Flyers, as Marchand-Stall- Tom Wilson held them scoreless, while Marchand scored a Goal! Hunter shortened the bench in the 3rd, playing J.T. Miller on RW for Wilson, saying ” Willie sometimes gets a little rambunctious( meaning stupid penalties)!

njoldredNEW JERSEY- Cory Schneider stops 30 shots(4/4 gr’s) in a 2-0 shutout over the Devils! It was Schneider’s 3rd Shutout of the season & his 2nd in a row at home! 2nd Star Jordan Stall scored his 1st Goal of the season & assisted on linemate Jacob Silfverberg’s Goal in the 2nd period to account for all the scoring! Stall, playing on the Top Line with Veteran Pavel Datsyuk out with a lower-body injury, was taking the face-offs while playing on the Left-Wing to shadow Tomas Tatar! Jordan clocked Tatar twice(Int Hit) & kept the Devil’s Top Line off the scoreboard! The Stars outhit the Devils by a 7-4 margin, Barret Jackman led the Devils with 2 Hits!

dallaslogoSTREAKING STARS- Something has got to give, the Stars have won 7 in a row on home ice & our next Home game is against Los Angeles, who has beaten us 8 straight over the last 4 years( 3 years ago LA won last meeting, 2 years ago they won both, last year they swept all 4 games, & this year they won 1st meeting) It is our last meeting of this season! With 7 wins in a row on home ice, we tied our All-Time Record that we set 4 seasons ago, winning the last 7 of the year! Cory Schneider was a Rookie that season, sharing the nets with Dwayne Roloson & Brian Boucher!
