Series knotted at 2-2 with the scene shifting back to south Florida for the pivotal Game 5…..another classic in store?
It’s the Bolts turn to strike first with Jeff Carter beating Stalock at 3:50. With the teams once again trading power punches it’s the Isles Purcell (oh the irony…..ask your dad if you don’t know) with a goal at 16:29 to knot the game at 1-1 after the period.
Another lightning fast (pun intended!) start to a period from the Bolts as Hossa and Thornton tally within the first 5 minutes of the middle period to stake the Bolts to a 3-1 lead. The surprisingly defense takes over as the teams combine for only 17 shots in the period as the score remains the same heading to the 3rd.
Bolts carry the play early in the period but it’s Camalleri that scores at 6:38 to cut the lead to 3-2. That same Camalleri then takes potentially a series changing penalty less than a minute later and on the ensuing powerplay old man Elias lights the lamp regaining the 2 goal lead. Then it’s Trouba and Lovejoy to the box within a minute of each other giving the Bolt a 2-man advantage and it’s Chara with a blast from the point to push the lead to 5-2 with just over 7 minutes remaining. Isle can’t muster much of an attack after all that penalty killing and end with only 4 shots in the 3rd period of a 5-2 Bolts victory. Powerplays heavily weighed in TB favor at 6-1 and the Bolts scored twice with the man advantage to take Game 5.
Teams head back to NY where the Isle will look to capitalize on the rowdy home crowd and send this 1 vs 8 series to a winner take all Game 7! Good luck!
