Block 5 Islanders

St. Louis – No scoring until the 2nd period when Milan Lucic found the
back of the net. Okposo tied it in the 3rd but Milan Lucic scores
again and that was the game winner. Bernier played great but we
couldn’t find any goals.. Bernier was 4/4 and stopped 35 shots. Price
didn’t see much action and was named 2nd star.

Buffalo – Michalek took a dumb penalty early in the first and Franzen
capitalized on that opportunity. Islanders quickly responded with 3
straight goals from some unlikely shooters, Gionta (his 1st), Cole and
Matthias (both 2nd of season). Taylor Hall ripped a PP goal by Bernier
and midway through the 3rd Kronwall ties it back up at 3. Phaneuf
handed us the game on a platter and took a 5 minute penalty with 6
minutes remaining. Islanders took advantage and scored twice to seal
the deal. 5-3 final.

Dallas – Back and forth game ending with Dallas on top. Midway through
the 2nd stanza, Umberger sniped one past Stalock for the game winner.
Both goalies were outstanding, Grubauer 4/4 with 35 saves and Stalock
6/7 with 37 saves. Great rookie showdown. After the game reporters
caught up with Gus Nyquist and asked him his thoughts on the 3-2 loss,
he replied, “We hate losing to Dallas, and we might not get another
shot until next season, tough one but we will move on”.

LA – 6 goals were scored in the 1st period and unfortunately 4 of them
slipped past Bernier, horrific start. Hiller came in, played amazing
and sparked the Islanders but LA had too much fire power. 6 different
scorers for LA with Saad getting an empty netter late. 6-4 final,
Kings PP was the story here, netting 3 goals on 6 chances.
